"The complete idiots guide to hypnosis" and "Hypnotherapy for dummies" are great books. They cover the basics and are good and easy reads. This website http://hypnomind.blogspot.com has a lot of hypnosis books listed but I would definitely recommend the first two I stated above and they are pretty common books, so you should be able to order or find them in india easy.

It can be. It depends on what has been written. For example if I were to suggest that you pause, and take a deep breath before reading further, and then to notice yourself blink just after, then I would have placed some basic components of a hypnotic induction in your mind, and you would have gone along with them. If I were to let you know that the only people this doesnt work on are those with various levels of schizoaffective disorders, would that increase your motivation to admit that they worked? The important part for the question of hypnosis is the structure and choices of the words. I can give you some much deeper examples if you are interested.

Ok I am 14 and I am interested in Psychology, Sociology, and other similar things. I like to better understand the mind. I don’t know why but I have a hard time understanding myself and I would like to better understand myself. I am thinking that since I have done alot of research and reading about all these subjects it would help. I just bought a book at a garage sale called "Self Hypnosis Its theory Technique and Appicatoin" by Melvin Powers Copyrighted in 1956. I know it is an old book but do you think it could help me? I have a weird mind and I am often depressed and suicidal and I worry alot and am very indecisive also my counsciounce worries me alot. Do you think it could help me? Also do you think it is odd that a 14 year old is interested in all this? By the way I have this thing where I can tell what people are thinking and read their emotions even when they are half way across the country (I did it last night I shocked myself) and well it only works with certain people I know. Not everyone. Mostly the people who have opened up to me and are close to me although I have done it to complete strangers too. Please help. Thanks.
The book might help you, though also look into more recent editions as the whole hypnosis thing has moved forward loads, and check out ‘nlp’ (neuro linguistic programming) because also related in hypnosis. Its normal to be curious about yourself, and the world. Shows you have a good mind. Interesting to know that you have some kind of extra sense as well. You are not alone with that either.
